Job Overview

The Process Engineer – Fluid Milk plays a key role in executing assigned Engineering tasks. This includes owning and improving fluid dairy processing systems including receiving, batching, pasteurization, and storage. This role serves as a technical leader and operational partner to production, maintenance, and quality teams, driving process performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own performance of fluid milk processing systems, including receiving, batching, pasteurization, storage, and transfer systems.
  • Monitor process performance and identify improvement opportunities for efficiency, quality, reliability, throughput, and yield.
  • Lead root cause analysis events and resolution of process-related issues.
  • Support and enhance logical and visual programming in conjunction with Operations Technology team.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, identify and recommend logical or visual changes as appropriate to improve performance, operability, reliability, and situational awareness.
  • Select, calibrate, configure, install, and validate instrumentation related to fluid milk processes.
  • Lead and support data-based process improvement initiatives
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Understand operational data and recommend/implement practical solutions for improved quality, productivity, cost, and safety
  • Represent Engineering group as a trusted technical resource and advisor to functional groups
  • Provide coaching to operators, technicians, and other personnel as appropriate
  • Provide clear, data-driven problem solving in operational issue resolution
  • Facilitate effective communication across departments and functional groups
  • Support capital project design and execution through process design input, P&ID development and review, functional description development, equipment and instrumentation specification, and installation support where required.
  • Contribute expertise to long-term engineering strategy
  • Develop, improve, and maintain technical/project documentation and design standards.
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement in quality, productivity, cost, and safety.

Min. Qualifications

  • 3-7+ years in food, beverage, or fluid process manufacturing.
  • GED or High School Diploma required; technical degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience with industrial controls, process instrumentation.
  • Dairy processing education and/or experience.
  • Experience working in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
