Job description

Purpose of the Job
The QA Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution and oversight of the plant's food safety and quality programs at the Florida-based orange juice processing facility. This role ensures compliance with 21 CFR 117 (FSMA Preventive Controls), 21 CFR 120 (Juice HACCP), USDA Organic (if applicable), Kosher certification requirements, and the company's Quality Management System (QMS). The QA Supervisor supervises QC personnel, verifies CCP monitoring, ensures accurate documentation, and escalates food safety risks to the Quality Manager.
Accountabilities
Food Safety & HACCP Oversight
  • Oversee daily execution of the Juice HACCP Plan.
  • Ensure monitoring and documentation of all Critical Control Points (CCPs), including pasteurization parameters.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of HACCP records.
  • Escalate deviations immediately to the Quality Manager.
  • Support annual HACCP reassessment activities.
FSMA Preventive Controls Execution
  • Support implementation of the Food Safety Plan under 21 CFR 117.
  • Verify preventive control monitoring activities.
  • Ensure corrective actions are documented and implemented.
  • Assist with verification and validation activities.
Production Quality & GMP Oversight
  • Conduct and document pre-operational inspections.
  • Monitor GMP compliance throughout the facility.
  • Partner with Production to address quality deviations.
  • Ensure proper lot coding and traceability procedures.
Laboratory & Testing Oversight
  • Supervise QC Technicians and Lab personnel.
  • Ensure proper sampling and testing per approved protocols.
  • Review microbiological and analytical test results.
  • Escalate out-of-specification (OOS) results immediately.
  • Verify calibration of quality monitoring instruments.
Sanitation & Environmental Monitoring
  • Oversee sanitation verification activities.
  • Ensure SSOP compliance and documentation.
  • Support environmental monitoring program execution.
Audit & Inspection Support
  • Support QA Manager during FDA, Organic, Kosher, and third-party audits.
  • Ensure records are organized and inspection-ready.
  • Participate in internal audits and corrective action follow-up.
Authority
  • Place product on temporary hold pending QA Manager review.
  • Stop production temporarily for immediate food safety concerns (with immediate notification to QA Manager).
  • Enforce GMP and sanitation compliance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • HACCP certification required (Juice HACCP preferred).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of food or beverage manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of 21 CFR 117 (Preventive Controls) and 21 CFR 120 (Juice HACCP).
