Primary Responsibilities

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has an immediate opening for a Business Development Specialist, who will be part of the global marketing and business development team. The position can be based in New York.

Working with the Senior Manager or Director of Business Development for assigned practices, and with the support of colleagues across the platform, the Business Development Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Working with lawyers in assigned practices to execute business development plans, initiatives and activities

  • Creating, customizing and regularly updating pitch documents, directory submissions and other marketing content to ensure they are well written and positioned appropriately towards specific target audiences

  • Monitoring business, legal and geopolitical news to potential opportunities for individual partners and practice groups

  • Assisting with business development tasks related to onboarding and integration of assigned lateral partners

  • Executing and conducting follow up as appropriate with respect to client events and webinars, as well as other thought leadership campaigns

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Candidate should have a bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in professional services or law firm business development.

  • Those with at least five years of experience may be considered for a Manager level role.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are critical to success as are collegial, collaborative and team player attributes.

  • Candidate must be a self-starter who thrives on juggling numerous high visibility projects on fast timetables and can handle high-pressure environments.

  • Candidate should have strong to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and some knowledge of applications specific to the legal field.

Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.

California, Washington DC and New York Pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience, is $95,000 - $155,000.
