Job description

Overview

KFS, LLC is seeking a Part-Time National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Project Manager that will support environmental compliance and planning efforts. The NEPA Project Manager will manage Staff and Project level environmental specialists developing Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements. This person will serve as Part-Time Project Manager for an environmental program supporting numerous DoD services with environmental compliance and NEPA projects.

 

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide environmental reviews, project scope alternative development, field investigation, planning, cost estimating, problem and conflict resolution, and scheduling
  • Conduct environmental troubleshooting and/or consultations, providing technical and project advice and guidance to clients
  • Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of professional studies, reports, and analysis
  • Collaborate with managers, other engineers/architects, legal staff, contract specialists and or contractor personnel, and provide advice and insight on the resolution of unique and/or complex environmental problems
  • Provide technical reviews and review comments for environmental studies and reports
  • Prepare environmental scopes of work and respond to requests for proposals for environmental projects
  • Provide expert in-house assessments of project impacts, best management practices, typical and creative mitigation measures and required studies and costs necessary to conduct consultation/coordination/permitting requirements, studies, and timelines for final project implementation
  • Prepare NEPA documents and correspondence with regulatory and resource agencies.
  • Regular verbal and written updates of project status will be a routine aspect of coordinating all assigned tasks
  • Travel (potential for overnight) will be required. Up to 4 weeks per year
Requirements

Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 5 to 10 years of specialized experience that includes preparing NEPA documents for DoD and other federal agencies
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in biological sciences, cultural resources, natural resource management, or other scientific discipline.
  • Experience preparing Purchase Requests, Scopes of Work and Estimates for contracting environmental services such as Biological Assessments and Cultural Resource Surveys
  • Experience in supporting consultation with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Strong project management and client coordination skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and document review capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a secret security clearance.
  • US Citizenship required

 

Location/Work Schedule: Primary location in Huntsville, AL

This position is hybrid, with a part-time work schedule.  Periodic travel may be required to support business needs, leadership meetings and government engagements.

 

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen.  Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.  May include lifting weight up to thirty {30} pounds as necessary.
