Job Description

The Project Analyst Intern supports laboratory operations by ensuring accurate and timely reporting of analytical data while maintaining strong communication between laboratory and technical teams. This role plays a critical part in preparing and validating reports, safeguarding data integrity, and supporting overall laboratory quality and efficiency. The intern works under the guidance of the Technical Director, follows established policies and standard operating procedures, and contributes to a safe, organized, and professional work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of analytical test data to support high-quality testing services and client satisfaction.
  • Act as a liaison between laboratory and technical staff to ensure clear, consistent communication of test data, troubleshooting information, and service updates.
  • Assist in drafting, preparing, and reviewing preliminary results, partial results, and final reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with testing requests.
  • Prepare, edit, and distribute new report submissions, revisions such as rechecks and preliminaries, and final deliverables in accordance with internal standards.
  • Manage and track preliminary results and final reports to maintain consistency and completeness.
  • Evaluate and validate test results using appropriate mathematical conversions, calculations, and logic checks to ensure data integrity.
  • Provide technical support for reporting-related inquiries and collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and questions.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of communications and reporting activities using approved templates, logs, and systems.
  • Monitor and maintain the reporting queue to ensure turnaround targets, priorities, and service-level expectations are met.
  • Assist office staff with data entry and validation tasks related to internal and sister laboratory results to support accurate and timely processing.
  • Support internal quality initiatives by following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintaining compliance with company guidelines and laboratory standards.
  • Ensure proprietary methods and confidential data are protected in line with company policy and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe working conditions and model collaborative, professional behavior in the workplace.
  • Promote and represent the company with integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, internal updates, and technical guidance as directed by the Technical Director.
  • Operate computers and use word-processing, spreadsheet, and data gathering software to support reporting and documentation activities.
  • Support additional projects and tasks as assigned to meet business needs and contribute to laboratory and reporting efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the broader laboratory and technical team.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a science-related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a laboratory or related environment.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles of microbiology.
  • Experience with technical writing and documentation, preferably in a scientific or laboratory context.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data validation, calculations, and report review.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use word-processing, spreadsheet, and data gathering software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with laboratory, technical, and office staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple reports, queues, and priorities.
  • Ability to perform mathematical conversions and logic checks to validate test results.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain compliance with quality and company guidelines.
  • Willingness and ability to adjust work schedule based on business needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical writing experience is preferred and considered a strong asset.
  • Exposure to microbiology principles is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment or with laboratory data systems is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to document and track activities using templates, logs, or similar tools.
  • Ability to support internal quality initiatives and audits by maintaining accurate records and following established procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain data, findings, and discrepancies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary methods and sensitive data.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
