Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, energetic, and education-minded team member to serve in a dual role as a Part-Time Instructor and Instruction Coordinator.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with students while also helping manage the daily flow of a busy learning center. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming, organized, and positive environment for students, families, and staff.
Instruction Coordinator Responsibilities
  • Manage the instructional floor during teaching hours (6-12 tables, each with up to 3 students and an instructor)
  • Help maintain a smooth and organized learning environment throughout each shift
  • Play games and engage with students between instructional hours
  • Administer student assessments
  • Welcome and greet new families
  • Prepare conference documents and materials
  • Assist with managing the instructional schedule
  • Answer phone calls and text messages
  • Help maintain the center during instructional periods
  • Create a warm, positive, and encouraging atmosphere each day
Part-Time Instructor Responsibilities
As a Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and provided with the tools to teach in a small-group 3:1 setting.
You will provide personalized instruction for students students in one or some of the following subjects.
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Study Skills
  • SAT/ACT Prep
  • State Exam Preparation
What Successful Instructors Do
Deliver Quality Education
  • Teach using Sylvan-based programs
  • Supervise, interact with, and motivate students during instructional time
  • Support students as they work with learning materials and equipment
  • Reward students for completed assignments
  • Evaluate and document student progress
  • Communicate student needs to the Center Manager

  • Build strong rapport with students
  • Create a fun and engaging learning environment
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and for Sylvan Learning

  • Some previous teaching or tutoring experience required
