Job description

Associated Surgeons and Physicians (ASAP) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Document ImportSpecialist to support the accurate management of patient medical records. This position plays an important role in ensuring patient information is properly assembled, organized, and imported into electronic medical records to support quality patient care and clinical operations.

This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assemble, organize, and import patient health information into electronic medical records using Provider Flow, ModMed, hospital systems, and other clinical software.
  • Review and process patient documentation including medical histories, symptoms, diagnostic reports, laboratory results, imaging reports, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
  • Ensure patient records are complete, accurate, and properly indexed within the electronic health record system.
  • Assist with quality reporting initiatives and data management activities.
  • Sort, organize, and maintain printed clinical documentation for chart utilization and record retention.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to resolve documentation discrepancies and ensure record accuracy.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree preferred. Preferred fields of study include Health Sciences, Health Information Management, Medical Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems such as CPT and ICD-10 preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare setting, medical records, or health information management role preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of information accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and standard computer applications.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity.
