How much do part time hca jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 17, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time hca in the United States is $21.15, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.62 and $20.67 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How many hours is part-time at HCA?

Part-time HCA (Health Care Assistant) positions typically involve working fewer than 30 hours per week, with schedules often ranging from 8 to 24 hours weekly. The exact hours can vary depending on the employer, location, and staffing needs, and some roles may offer flexible scheduling or shift work. It is important to check specific job postings for precise hours and requirements.

What are part-time HCAs?

Part-time HCAs, or Healthcare Assistants, are support staff who work fewer hours than full-time HCAs, often on a flexible or shift basis. They provide essential care to patients in hospitals, care homes, or community settings, assisting with daily living tasks such as washing, dressing, feeding, and mobility. Part-time HCAs may also help with basic health monitoring under the supervision of nurses or other healthcare professionals. This role is ideal for those seeking a healthcare career with flexible hours or a work-life balance.

What is the difference between Part Time Hca vs Part Time Care Assistant?

AspectPart Time HcaPart Time Care Assistant
CertificationsHealth and Care Worker Visa, Care CertificateCare Certificate, basic training
Work EnvironmentHospitals, care homes, community settingsCare homes, domiciliary care, community settings
Employer UsageHealthcare providers, NHS, private care agenciesPrivate care agencies, local authorities
Job FocusProviding clinical and personal care, supporting medical needsAssisting with daily activities, personal care, companionship

While both roles involve providing personal care, Part Time Hcas often have additional responsibilities related to clinical support and require specific healthcare certifications. Care Assistants focus more on daily living support and companionship, with less emphasis on clinical tasks.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time HCAs and how can they be managed?

Part-time Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) often face challenges such as adjusting to varying shift patterns, staying updated with patient information, and integrating into teams that may change regularly. To manage these challenges, it's helpful to maintain clear communication with colleagues during handovers, stay organized with notes and schedules, and proactively seek feedback or clarification from supervisors. Building good relationships with the team and demonstrating flexibility can also make transitions smoother and enhance job satisfaction.

Is HCA a good company to work for remotely?

As a healthcare assistant (HCA) working remotely, the role typically involves administrative or telehealth support rather than direct patient care, which can be suitable for remote work. However, most healthcare assistant positions require in-person presence, so remote opportunities are limited and depend on the employer's policies and the specific job responsibilities.

Can I work remotely in healthcare part-time?

Part-time healthcare roles such as a healthcare assistant (HCA) typically require in-person presence to provide direct patient care, making remote work uncommon. However, some administrative or telehealth positions in healthcare may offer remote or hybrid options, depending on the employer and role requirements.

What is the most chill healthcare job?

A part-time healthcare assistant (HCA) role is often considered relatively low-stress compared to other healthcare positions, as it typically involves basic patient support and routine tasks. HCAs usually work in controlled environments like clinics or care homes, with predictable schedules and minimal emergency responsibilities, making it a calmer option within healthcare jobs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Healthcare Assistant (HCA), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time HCA, you need a basic understanding of healthcare practices, patient care, and usually a relevant care certificate or experience in a similar setting. Familiarity with electronic care records, basic medical equipment, and infection control protocols is often required. Compassion, reliability, and strong communication skills are crucial for building trust with patients and supporting the healthcare team. These skills are vital for delivering safe, effective care and maintaining a positive environment for both patients and colleagues.
