Description
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to assist County Extension Agents with planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating the Whitfield County 4-H Club educational program. Work with youth ages nine to nineteen is the primary focus of the job.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Receives and processes documents pertaining to department programs, operations and/or services; date stamps incoming documents; reviews documents for completeness and accuracy; applies established procedures; completes forms and documents by researching, collecting and/or calculating needed data/information; and copies, files, distributes and/or submits documents to appropriate staff, agencies or parties.
Assists customers via telephone, correspondence, and in person; answers telephones; greets customers and visitors; provides assistance, requested documents and information; explains department policies and procedures; researches and responds to questions; resolves complaints and problems; and refers persons to other staff members as appropriate.
Prepares and maintains paperwork files and records for the department; pulls files and documents upon request; researches files and records to retrieve information; photocopies documents and distributes and/or files; requests information from other departments as necessary to complete department records/files; and purges and/or shreds documents as directed.
Establishes and maintains information in automated files and databases; enters and updates data; maintains spreadsheets, listings, tracking data and other program and/or operational information; researches information in databases, spreadsheets and other automated files; and retrieves and reports data in requested formats.
Assist with preparation and develop 4-H newsletters, brochures, handouts and other material. Also assist in developing, preparing, and organizing materials for club meetings. Organize 4-H publications, material, and supplies.
Operates a personal computer, telephones, copiers and other general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
Meet with 4-H Clubs and deliver educational information.
Teach the state 4-H curriculum and educational information to youth as required.
Work with 4-H members to prepare for county, district, and state project competitions.
Transport 4-H'ers to county, district, and state events and activities.
Supervise and direct 4-H'ers at county, district, and state 4-H events and activities.
Help train 4-H judging teams.
Assist with annual 4-H Awards banquet or reception.
Assist with all 4-H fundraiser activities.
Assist 4-H'ers with fair entries.
Attend 4-H Summer Camps.
Assist with developing, preparing, and teaching 4-H summer classes
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three years of progressively knowledgeable and skilled experience in public education and outreach, preferably as such relates to extension services; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Active Georgia Drivers License required. The person in this position must have reliable transportation to travel within the county and to 4-H club events within the state.
Some weekend and night work is required.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
