Job description

Opengate is an innovative forward-thinking non-profit organization looking to provide extraordinary individuals support with the highest possible quality of life. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Medical File Clerk, who will play a critical role in making a positive impact on the lives of the people we serve.


The Medical File Clerk is responsible for accurately filing and scanning all incoming paperwork to our medical office assisting the Director of Nursing and Medical Director.


Essential Job Functions

  • Accurately files documents into medical records.
  • Performs general clerical duties: sorts, scans, alphabetizes, data entry, photocopying, faxing, preparing mailings, etc.
  • Electronically files documents into patient’s chart.
  • Processes all incoming medical information on a timely basis and according to Opengate’s policy.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative person-centered environment through professional and compassionate interactions with people supported, coworkers and caregivers.
  • Is knowledgeable about Medical Records, HIPAA, Confidentiality and all other related policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the agency including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality and employee relations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year experience in an office environment with computer experience and familiarity with medical software
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • A valid NYS Driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

  • This position is a non-sedentary position that requires frequent standing, walking and walking.
  • Ability to safely lift and transfer 50 or more pounds, turn, lift and assist individuals with movement.
  • This position operates in a professional office environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment. Some filing and handling of records and office supplies, requiring the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

This is a Part Time position - 20 hours per week.
Hourly Rate: $19.25- $21.00 Compensation will be commensurate with job qualifications and work experience
