JOB DESCRIPTION
Alston & Bird is in search of an experienced transactional Paralegal to join out Real Estate practice group. The Real Estate Paralegal will work directly with attorneys and clients during due diligence, closings, and post-closing work of commercial real estate transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Drafting transaction documentation for attorneys and assisting with post-closing work
  • Manage and assist with the closing of various transactions, including preparation, coordination, distribution, and organization of closing binders
  • Assist attorneys to index, organize documents, correspondence, memorandums, and attorney notes
  • Proofread legal documents and contracts
  • Reviewing Survey and Title Insurance documentation in commercial real estate transactions
  • Obtain, organize, review and summarize due diligence materials, including corporate status certificates and certified corporate documents, and real estate title examinations and surveys, as well as preparation of necessary documentation to correct or clear title
  • Perform special projects as assigned
  • Draft memos regarding the status of projects
  • Maintain current and accurate daily time record

  • Ability to work overtime and irregular hours as dictated by the Firm and client needs.

SKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Work typically requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
  • Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of a four-year college degree is required, paralegal certificate optional.
  • 5-10+ Years of experience as a Transactional/Real Estate paralegal.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 and represents the Firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at this time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and locations. This range is specific to our Washington, D.C. offices and may not be applicable to other locations.
