Description
Under the general supervision of the Head Swim Coach (for Swim Coral Springs duties only), this position serves as a Part-Time Assistant Swim Coach for the City's competitive swimming program. The role includes supporting the Head Coach and coaching staff in daily training sessions, assisting with athlete development, implementing practice plans, promoting a positive team culture, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and helping during swim meets and team events as needed. The Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for supporting the Swim Coral Springs program in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and on weekends as required. The individual in this role must be a qualified and registered USA Swimming coach and should demonstrate the ability to coach age-group competitive athletes.
Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM when the team has morning double practices, and 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, as needed. Saturday and Sunday as needed. Summer Schedule: 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
Examples of Duties
Assistant Swim Coach Responsibilities (Swim Coral Springs):
  • Assists in planning daily, monthly, and seasonal swim team schedules.
  • Coaches age-group swim team workouts in the afternoon, evening, and weekends as assigned.
  • Provides developmentally appropriate instruction on form and technique to accommodate a wide range of participants.
  • Assists with dry-land workouts for the swim team.
  • Supports team events such as swim camps, clinics, and banquets.
  • Helps manage participant records, meet entries, and billing using software programs such as Hy-Tek(Business, Team, and Meet Manager).
  • Assists with swim meet set-up/break-down, including equipment handling, coordinating information, computer entries, heat sheets, operations, and results.
  • Responsible for supporting the Swim Coral Springs program in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and on weekends as needed, and performing other Swim Coral Springs programs needs as assigned.

General Duties:
  • Maintains professionalism and adheres to all City and program policies.
  • Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, staff , and the community.
  • Perform any tasks necessary to support the team and the coaching staff , beyond the core coaching duties.

Typical Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A combination of education, relevant training and experience will be considered in lieu of high school diploma or it's equivalency.
  • Must be registered USA Swim Coach, which requires current CPR, First Aid and Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
  • Certifications must be maintained during employment.
  • Incumbents in this job class are required to undergo a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida. The screening includes a photograph, fingerprint-based searches of criminal records nationally, and is performed using the electronic LiveScan process.
