Butcher

Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply, Inc., has an opening for a Butcher at its Vicksburg location.

If you are a hard-working person who likes helping others and being proud of the physical work you accomplish, this might be a job you would enjoy. EMIS services vessels and tows, and this job allows you to be a part of the support of the river crews.

Ergon is a family-owned oil and gas company based in the Jackson, MS, area with facilities across the US. EMIS is a subsidiary with facilities that support marine traffic up and down the Mississippi River. Our facilities are located in Vicksburg, MS, and Memphis, TN.

The part-time Butcher position is responsible for cutting and preparing meats in a manner that complies with all regulatory agency requirements.

Butcher Responsibilities include the following:

  • Cut and wrap meat
  • Weigh and label cut meat
  • Complete special orders upon request
  • Turn in cut meat weight sheet in a timely manner for updating inventory
  • Maintain meat cutting procedures that comply with regulatory agency requirements
  • Maintain freezer inventory
  • Communicate with Grocery Office Supervisor and Grocery Warehouse Supervisor to order bulk meat and supplies
  • Unload bulk meat deliveries, verify item description and weight against the invoice, and check dates on bulk meat cases upon delivery
  • Stock supplies upon receipt of delivery
  • Assist in grocery warehouse as needed
  • Responsible for operating an organized, clean, sanitary and safe meat cutting area at all times
  • Wash and sanitize the meat room and equipment at end of every day
  • Maintain temperature log and ground meat log

Butcher Qualifications:

  • Must have 2 to 4 years meat cutting experience
  • Good organizational skill and communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others
