Job Summary:
The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing safe, nurturing, high-quality care and education for children ages birth to 11 years old in our extended hour childcare center. This role serves as a core member of the teaching team and is expected to confidently perform all classroom responsibilities, including independently managing the classroom when functioning as the teacher in ratio.
Classroom Teachers must be flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable supporting any classroom as assigned based on center needs. This includes lesson implementation, child supervision, behavior guidance, daily routines, family communication, cleaning, documentation, meal service, and maintaining compliance with Utah Child Care Licensing regulations.
This role requires individuals who understand that all classroom tasks are shared responsibilities and that maintaining ratio, safety, supervision, and classroom operations are essential expectations of the position.
Requirements
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care, supervision, and active engagement for children ages birth to 11.
  • Independently manage the classroom and all required duties when serving as the teacher in ratio, including situations where only one staff member is required by licensing ratio.
  • Maintain constant awareness of child counts, supervision zones, transitions, and classroom safety requirements.
  • Support daily classroom routines including curriculum activities, diapering/toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, nap/rest time, playground supervision, and transitions.
  • Implement lesson plans, activities, and age-appropriate learning experiences as directed by classroom leadership and center standards.
  • Use positive guidance techniques and classroom management strategies to support behavior expectations and conflict resolution.
  • Complete all classroom cleaning, sanitizing, organization, and closing/opening duties as assigned.
  • Conduct daily safety checks of classroom materials, playgrounds, and environments and immediately report concerns.
  • Complete attendance, meal counts, diaper logs, daily notes, incident reports, and all required licensing documentation accurately and on time.
  • Communicate professionally with families in person and through Brightwheel regarding children's daily care, milestones, and concerns.
  • Float between classrooms and support breaks, coverage needs, staffing gaps, and schedule adjustments as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with all teaching team members to ensure consistency, accountability, and high-quality care across all classrooms.
  • Follow all center policies, Utah Child Care Licensing regulations, CACFP requirements, and health/safety procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism, initiative, and flexibility in completing any classroom-related task needed to support the center's operations.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Experience working with children birth through 11 years old in a licensed childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred.
  • Must be confident working independently and fully managing classroom responsibilities.
  • Must be comfortable supporting all age groups and all classrooms as assigned.
  • Strong understanding of classroom supervision, safety, behavior guidance, and child engagement.
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and willingness to complete all classroom duties.
  • Friendly, professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass a Utah Child Care Licensing Background Check.
  • Must complete all required Utah Child Care Licensing preservice and annual training requirements.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certifications.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Schedule
We are looking for applicants that are willing to work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of our extended hour facility. As a new facility, we are looking for individuals that can work weekends and holidays, as needed.
