To thrive as a Page, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability are essential, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. What is a page?

Pages are entry-level employees who typically work in libraries, government offices, or courts. Their primary duties include sorting, shelving, and organizing materials such as books or files, as well as assisting patrons with locating items. Pages help keep workspaces orderly and may also perform basic clerical tasks. This role is ideal for individuals seeking experience in library science, office administration, or related fields. Pages often work part-time and are supervised by more senior staff.

What are common challenges faced by pages in a library setting, and how can they be addressed?

Pages in libraries often face challenges such as maintaining accurate shelving, managing large volumes of returned materials, and navigating busy periods when patrons require assistance. Staying organized and familiarizing oneself with the library's classification system are key to overcoming these hurdles. Additionally, effective communication with librarians and other staff members helps ensure a smooth workflow and quick resolution of any shelving or patron-related issues.
