The PACS Administrator is responsible for the operations of the PACS systems to manage the medical images of the radiology department and makes appropriate recommendations. Assumes responsibility for the implementation, continuous operation and maintenance of the PACS. Proposes changes or upgrades to the system, recommends changes in the current operating policy and procedure as needed to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements or respond to QA issues.

GENERAL DUTIES
  • Coordinates the implementation of any new and upgraded system software and hardware for radiology service line in accordance with project initiation and fulfillment processes.
  • Assists team members with testing relevant imaging workflows as outlined in testing scripts.
  • Works closely with quality management personnel to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes, which include further integration into operations.
  • Assures installation performance by coordination of related activities and performing system verification.
  • Ensures that all imaging equipment communicates with necessary applications to include the installation of new equipment.
  • Provides refresher education courses on various aspects radiology information systems. Communicates changes, policy's revisions, new services and information to the staff in written form and meetings.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years of experience in Management/Supervisory capacities in healthcare settings. (TOURO)
  • 2 years of experience in managing a system network, working with database application, and supporting enterprise applications. (CHNOLA)
  • 2 years of experience in PACs administration, supervisory/management in a healthcare setting. (UMC)
  • 2 years experience in Radiology or cardiology experience preferred 4 years experience in Healthcare IT

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited program in imaging technology or Associates degree in IT or a related field
  • Preferred: Graduate of an approved program in Imaging Technology

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Preferred: Basic Life Support HeartSaver & First Aid
  • Preferred: Radiography Certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
  • Preferred: ARRT or CIIP from SIIM or PARCA from PACS Admin
