Job description:
Position Summary
The Packaging Manager will be leading a team of 25+ Technicians and Leads. The Manager will report to the Director of Operations. This position will work a varying schedule to meet production and processing needs of the company. The Manager is responsible for sub-departments within the Packaging Departments eithin the Packaging Department such as GreenVault, KungTech, Packaging, and Flex Packaging. Responsibility includes documenting the process of each sub-department in SOPs and other process documents, establishing and tracking KPI's and Metrics of the teams and includes Attendance, Production and Regular maintenance of equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The following are included; other duties may be assigned:
  • Oversee the development of production and packaging teams as the business scales.
  • Collaborate with product teams to align packaging with brand strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Tribal regulations along with sustainability standards.
  • Conduct quality control assessments to maintain packaging and team integrity.
  • Oversee all finished goods labeling, filling, and packaging procedures in an efficient manner that also complies with current regulations, GMPs, SOPs, and all applicable packaging procedures.
  • Create packaging strategies, including sourcing equipment and materials.
  • Ensure clean environment through removal and disposal of debris and processing waste after production activities are complete.
  • Assist in preparing reports, planning budgets, and making packaging decisions based on estimated consumer demand, sales data, and industry knowledge.
  • Write and train basic principles of batch records, SOPs, and sanitation.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a safe and efficient manner for goals.
  • Oversee record keeping and reporting, including inventory and other data categories.
  • Update daily and week production communication boards.
  • Oversee waste logs and seed-to-sale inventory systems
  • Have a deep understanding of packaging and labeling issues and able to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Oversee quality control and reporting of all defects and process and product deviations.
  • Oversee day to day assignments of Packaging Associates.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Monitor, manage, and source equipment, supplies, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product movement procedures.
  • Ensure performance of corrective and preventative maintenance on associated equipment as required to maintain efficient operations.
  • Assist with staff onboarding and new hire training completion.
  • Assist with continuous training and career development with staff
  • Support new product lines and process development as needed.
  • Continually strive to improve Company's processes and product for improved safety, quality, and efficient manufacturing.
  • Oversee direct report's performance, lead staff performance management, succession planning, development of members strengths, and improvement of weaknesses. • Actively participate in the recruitment, interview, and hire process of filling open positions. • Assist with staff onboarding and new hire training completion.
  • Assist with continuous training and career development with staff. • Communicate across teams to ensure schedules are met and statuses are kept up to date, goals are met.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment, technology, and software.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage Technicians and Leads: Making sure staff are on task, duties are assigned, correctly filling out hours worked and counts. Setting a good example.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field OR industry-recognized training or education in a related field.
  • Prior packaging experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience in a related field preferred.
  • Intermediate-level math skills.
  • Strong computer-based skills.
  • Knowledge and maintenance of production machinery. (GreenVault, KungTech, Induction Sealer, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Must be twenty-one (21) years or older.
Able to pass background check and drug screening.
Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
Must fully meet the licensing requirements of the White Earth Medical Cannabis Control Board and be licensed to dispense medical cannabis according to the rules and regulations promulgated by the White Earth Medical Cannabis Control Board, in accordance with the White Earth Medicinal Cannabis Code.
