Job Description Summary
This position supports plant production by performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by supervisory personnel, while working under limited supervision.
Job Description
KEY DUTIES
  • Perform regular assigned checks.
  • Keep logs up to date.
  • Equipment repair, overhaul and trouble shooting.
  • Proper start-up and shut-down of plant equipment.
  • Training of other mechanical or production personnel.
  • Follow safety procedures for all work performed and instructing others in safe working habits.
  • Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Ability to weld, chip, grind and use all power tools safely at different heights on scaffolds, ladders and safety cages.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Physical Environment/Demands:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently

  • Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 12 hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies

  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures

  • Must be able to work with hands an arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment

  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance tow ork both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant operations

  • Mya have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products

  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must meet the qualifications of lower bracketed mechanic positions.
  • Proficient at welding mild steel.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant operations and mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Good communicator with salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic mechanical skills (i.e. plumbing, measuring, changing bearings, etc.).
  • Able to work alone and in a neat workman-like manner.
  • Fulfil Line Mechanic duties in Raw Receiving, Plant I, Plant II or Co-Product.
  • Weld stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Set up and adjust cutters and Lamb guns.
  • Properly adjust all shakers and conveyors.
  • Repair all drive components on plant equipment.
  • Do sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation.
  • Operate each piece of packaging equipment.
  • Trouble shoot, repair and rebuild the following with minimal direction and supervision: Blue Point Case packers, settler, gluers; Triangle package machines; Bosch packaging machines; Dynapaks; palletizers; stretch wrappers; case sealers; case settlers; Isoflo shakers; Ajax and Eccentric driven shakers; check weighers; belt conveyors; PLC's; hydraulic pumps, cylinders and accessories; product feeders and scales.
  • Weld stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Knowledgeable of solid state electronics.
  • Pipe fitting for air, water, and hydraulics.
  • Sheet metal layout fabrication and installation.
  • Install new equipment as directed.
