Job Summary
At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Line Shift Leader basedin West Jordan, Utah!
The Team Leader is a key function to develop in the line centric organization to coordinate the team, coach and develop capabilities (conduct, maintain and improve) of the Equipment Owners (EO) on every shift. The Team Leader would have overall accountability for the key results and systems on their shift.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:
  • Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE/PR). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate in and own the implementation and deployment of all company standards required to consistently produce high quality goods in a safe working environment. This could include IWS or related integrated work systems and corresponding pillars (Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization) with the objective of owning your space, and the performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement of shift results.
  • Expected to demonstrate and maintain the skills and competencies defined in the Line Shift Leader Step up Card
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture in alignment with Danone Behaviors, respect and professionalism.
  • Ensure team is complying with collective bargaining agreement, policies and procedures
  • Lead your team through the execution of the RTT DMSs and IWS Phase Journey
  • Act as the daily operations decision maker including leading problem-solving activities
  • Effectively lead communication between shifts, team members and facility leaders and escalate to management/IWS Trio's accordingly
  • Foster culture that minimizes Safety and Quality incidents and unplanned stops
  • Track and Report shift daily metrics
  • Implement planned activities from maintenance and production, partner with the technical and/or engineering teams to support all projects
  • Assign team members to workstations and delegate tasks appropriately
  • Build and maintain productive team culture and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Use of OPL's to share learnings
  • Maintain process and product quality on production line to meet quality specification including all documentation and QMS standards.
  • Support plant Compelling Business Needs (CBN)
  • Implement individual and team training plans to schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and plant requirements
  • Conduct Daily Management Systems (DMS) health checks
  • Engage team members in safety discussions daily, have discussions with team to address safety behaviors and corrections if applicable and complete root cause analysis and safety alert for incidents in the area
  • Must be self-motivated, working independently toward departmental objectives
  • Remain calm under pressure, show respect, professionalism in the workplace
  • Coordinates, develops and coaches the team, and operates workstation in cases of business need.
  • Team Leader role does not have the right to hire, promote, demote, and transfer employees; the right to discipline or discharge employees for just cause
  • Other duties as assigned or become evident

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, you will frequently be:
  • Standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, bending and stopping (at waist level), kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting (at waist level and at the neck).
  • Tasting, smelling, seeing (including colors), speaking, and hearing, within a normal range to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
  • Using fine motor skills to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Regularly enduring repetitive lifting, from 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., and occasional team lifting of more than 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbing stairs, step ladders, or stools.
  • Working up to 12-hour shifts in production areas with a usually moderate noise level.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you will:
  • Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment with usually moderate noise levels and will involve standing/walking on a concrete surface for the duration of your shift.
  • Regularly working near moving mechanical parts and will be regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and make be exposed to loud noises in the plant.
  • Occasionally work in high, precarious places and may be exposed to extreme cold, the risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.

As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of related integrated work systems and corresponding pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving Operational Efficiency; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base compensation for this position is $26.85/hr. with an additional $1.25/hr. shift differential when working night shift plus a $2.00/hr. shift premium. Upon the completion of a 90-day probation period, your base compensation will increase to $29.83/hr. with an additional $1.25/hr. shift differential when working night shift plus a $2.00/hr. shift premium.
