Job Summary: A locally owned eye care office in Greenwood, IN is hiring an Optician/Sales member to their team!

The Optician/Sales is responsible for:

  • Merchandising
  • Eyewear sales
  • Providing high-quality optical services to patients
  • Working closely with patients to understand their needs and supports the Optical Manager in maintaining an efficient, well-organized optical department.

This role focuses on:

  • Product knowledge
  • Frame and lens selection
  • Order accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in identifying their eyewear needs and educate them on frame and lens options that best meet those needs
  • Complete all frame and lens orders and submit them to the appropriate lab the same day as the transaction
  • Maintain the retail floor to align with VisionQuest Eyecare merchandising standards
  • Use a lensometer to read and verify spectacle lens prescriptions
  • Perform frame adjustments to ensure proper fit and patient satisfaction
  • Conduct optical frame inventory and maintain accurate records
  • File insurance claims the same day as the transaction to ensure timely processing and payment
  • Stay informed on current frame trends and advancements in spectacle lens technology

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a sales role (not just cashier); optical experience preferred
  • College degree required
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records is a plus
  • Strong computer skills and high accuracy with data entry
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills required
  • Punctual, dependable, and committed to high-quality patient care

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • 8AM–5PM
  • One shift per week will vary: 9AM – 6:30PM or 10AM – 7PM

Pay & Benefits
