What is an operations internship?

An operations internship is a temporary position that allows students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in the operations department of a company. Interns in this role typically assist with process improvement, data analysis, logistics, project management, and day-to-day business operations. The goal is to provide hands-on exposure to how organizations function efficiently and to help interns develop skills such as problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. Operations internships are valuable stepping stones for those interested in careers in business operations, supply chain management, or related fields.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on during an Operations Internship?

As an Operations Intern, you'll typically be involved in a variety of hands-on projects that support day-to-day business functions. Common tasks may include analyzing workflow processes, assisting with inventory management, preparing reports, and supporting the implementation of process improvements. Interns often collaborate with multiple departments—such as logistics, finance, and customer service—to gain a broad understanding of operational challenges and solutions. This exposure not only builds valuable skills but also provides insight into potential career paths within operations management.

Job description

Position: Operations Internship
This program is designed to give interns a meaningful, hands-on experience supporting Monogram Health's core business and clinical operations. Interns will work on projects involving program development, clinical workflows, and more, all within a fast-growing, mission-driven healthcare organization. While the internship is primarily rooted in our operations team, interns who are curious about other parts of the business will have the chance to explore work with our payer partnerships, strategy, and engagement teams if interested. It's a great opportunity for an intern to build skills, learn how a high-growth healthcare company operates, and gain exposure to multiple functions across the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to performance improvement, partnership, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support data gathering, analyses, and interpretation for operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with research, competitive benchmarking, and market insights.
  • Develop presentations, reports, and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings, project reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Deliver a final presentation summarizing insights and contributions across all rotations.

Position Requirements
  • High school or GED required and current enrollment in Undergraduate or Graduate program: MBA students or recent graduates are strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare operations, partnerships, business strategy, analytics, or program management.
  • Communication skills-both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis fundamentals.
  • Curiosity, analytical mindset, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Expected Hours and Schedule
We aim to attract the strongest applicants, so this internship is not tied to a specific season. Instead, we offer flexible scheduling that can accommodate either full time or part time participation, depending on the intern's availability and project needs. We recognize students may be balancing academic commitments, and we'll work collaboratively to establish a schedule that allows the intern to contribute meaningfully while maintaining steady progress on their work.
Duration: At least 10 weeks with an option to extend if there is mutual interest
  • In-person or hybrid, depending on team needs and intern location.
  • For those located in Brentwood or Tempe an in-person internship is available
  • Interns are expected to attend weekly check-ins

Compensation
  • Hourly Rate: $25-30/hour depending on education/experience
  • Not eligible for benefits
