Position Overview
The Operational Excellence Intern at UES will provide support to both the Innovation and Excellence teams while gaining practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic business environment. This role will assist with administrative functions, employee engagement initiatives, business excellence, and IT projects. The internship is designed to give students exposure to a professional services organization while developing organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Analyzes company functions, processes, and activities to improve computer-based business applications for the most effective use of money, materials, equipment, and people.
  • Utilizes available computer systems resources and personnel to carry out analysis to support management's quest for performance improvement.
  • Reviews and analyzes information, forecasts, methods, schedules, systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Determines most useful business solutions for the company.
  • Recommends alternative solutions to management as to courses of action that best meet the organization's goals.
  • Perform duties concerned with the design and improvement of computer-based business systems.
  • Works closely with senior managers to identify and solve a variety of computer-based business system problems.
  • Analyzes requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing business systems.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.
  • Conference with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures and identify problems.
  • Solicits from management symptoms of problem, formally defines the problem, breaks problem into component parts, and gathers information about each of these parts from a variety of sources.

General Administrative Duties
  • Provide clerical support including filing, data entry, and preparing reports.
  • Assist with drafting internal communications and preparing materials for leadership.
  • Collaborate across departments to support ongoing projects and initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with social media platforms preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
