Job description

General Manager – Large Outdoor Marketplace & Entertainment Venue

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Lead One of Texas' Largest Outdoor Marketplaces

For more than 50 years, Traders Village has been one of Texas' premier outdoor marketplaces, welcoming thousands of guests each weekend and providing business opportunities for hundreds of independent vendors. Our properties combine shopping, food, amusement rides, special events, and family entertainment to create a destination unlike any other.

We are seeking an experienced executive leader to serve as the General Manager of our San Antonio property.

This is not a traditional retail management position. It is an opportunity to lead a large, multi-department operation with responsibility for its overall financial performance, operational excellence, safety culture, and guest experience.

If you have successfully led a complex, customer-focused operation and enjoy building strong teams while delivering exceptional business results, we encourage you to apply.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the President, the General Manager serves as the senior operating executive for the San Antonio property. This position provides leadership, direction, and accountability for all aspects of the operation, including financial performance, property operations, safety, customer service, vendor relations, and organizational leadership.

The General Manager leads a diverse management team and partners with Corporate leadership to execute company initiatives while maintaining responsibility for the overall performance of the property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the property and all operating departments.
  • Develop, coach, and lead a high-performing management team.
  • Drive attendance, vendor occupancy, revenue, and profitability through sound operational leadership.
  • Foster a culture built on safety, accountability, integrity, teamwork, and exceptional service.
  • Ensure the property is prepared to deliver an outstanding experience every operating weekend.
  • Oversee maintenance, security, rides, food service, marketing, events, and other operational functions through department leadership.
  • Partner with Corporate leaders to implement company initiatives and operating standards.
  • Build productive relationships with vendors, guests, employees, and community leaders.
  • Use financial and operational data to make informed business decisions and continuously improve performance.
Qualifications

Successful candidates will typically possess:

  • Demonstrated success leading a complex, customer-facing operation with multiple departments.
  • Experience managing financial performance and operating budgets with P&L responsibility.
  • Proven ability to lead managers, develop talent, and build strong teams.
  • Strong analytical, financial, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A data-driven approach to operational leadership and decision-making.
  • Hospitality, entertainment, retail, marketplace, amusement, or other high-volume operational leadership experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and executive leadership experience.
Work Environment

Traders Village is a predominantly outdoor operation. The General Manager spends significant time throughout the property interacting with employees, vendors, and guests while overseeing operations. Weekend leadership presence is essential, and the position requires regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions and extensive walking throughout the property.

Schedule

This is a full-time, onsite executive leadership position.

Weekend availability is an essential requirement. The General Manager is expected to work every Saturday and Sunday, with two weekdays typically scheduled as days off. Weekend operating days frequently extend 10 to 12 hours.

Why Traders Village?

At Traders Village, you'll lead more than a business—you'll lead a destination. Every weekend, thousands of families, shoppers, and visitors come together with hundreds of independent vendors to create an experience that has been part of Texas tradition for generations.

If you're an experienced operational leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys developing people, and wants the opportunity to make a visible impact on a large, multi-faceted operation, we'd like to hear from you.
