Are you an accomplished executive leader who excels at improving organizations, developing high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional public service? Do you have the vision to modernize operations while helping create vibrant, sustainable communities? If so, the Corpus Christi Housing Authority (CCHA) invites you to apply to become its next Chief Operating Officer.

Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the COO serves as the Authority’s principal operating executive, providing strategic leadership for housing operations, property management, resident services, maintenance, compliance, procurement, capital improvements, and organizational performance. This executive will help guide one of Texas’ premier housing authorities through an exciting period of redevelopment, operational improvement, and organizational transformation.

We’re seeking an engaging servant leader who is:

  • Skilled at building collaborative, accountable, high-performing teams

Located along the Texas Gulf Coast, Corpus Christi is one of the state’s most vibrant coastal cities, offering residents an outstanding quality of life, a diverse economy, and abundant recreational opportunities. Situated on Corpus Christi Bay approximately 150 miles southeast of San Antonio.

Corpus Christi Housing Authority (CCHA), together with its affiliated nonprofit Coastal Housing Partners (CHP), provides quality affordable housing opportunities for thousands of Corpus Christi residents while investing in stronger neighborhoods and sustainable communities.

Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Urban Planning, Real Estate, Management, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience in public housing, affordable housing, local government, or a similarly complex organization.
  • At least five (5) years of experience managing multiple operational departments with responsibility for organizational performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Proven success implementing strategic plans, leading organizational change, improving operational performance, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and executive leadership skills.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Management, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Housing Manager (CPHM), Public Housing Manager (PHM), or comparable professional certification.
  • Experience leading affordable housing redevelopment initiatives, mixed-income communities, or public-private partnerships.
  • Experience working closely with governing boards, elected officials, developers, and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Housing Choice Voucher, Public Housing, affordable housing operations, or comparable public-sector programs.
