Learn More AND Video Tour Our Campus!Job Description:The Office Assistant, or "Front Desk Assistant," is the first point of contact and "friendly face" of the Student Learning Center (SLC), including in person, phone, and email contact. They answer questions, direct people to resources, problem solve and pass along questions or issues to senior SLC staff as appropriate. They also field phone calls and email inquiries, and direct items to other staff as appropriate. Front desk assistants are also responsible for entering tutoring appointment data and booking tutoring appointments into Starfish. Traffic at the SLC (whether in person or virtual) ebbs and flows, and when not assisting people, the front desk assistant will work on other office tasks, such as organizing files, helping with outreach materials, and other operational tasks as assigned by senior SLC staff.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be a current Shoreline Community College Student and enrolled in 6 or more credits
- Be able to communicate effectively through English writing, speaking, and listening
- Have a minimum 3.5 subject grade and 3.0 cumulative GPA (or instructor recommendation)
- Be punctual with reliable attendance to all scheduled shifts
- Interact reliably, professionally, respectfully, and compassionately with all students, tutors, staff, and others
- Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Be competent with basic computer skills
- Be considerate of unique student needs
- Maintain confidentiality of student and tutor information
- Commit to a minimum of two hours per week for an entire quarter
