Job Description
This position is responsible to provide a comprehensive learning experience utilizing simulation technology to the students in the Practical Nursing Program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain skills and simulation laboratory hours conducive to student scheduling.
  • Educate faculty (full and part-time) regarding utilization of simulation lab.
  • Coordinate with faculty regarding development and integration of simulation into the curriculum.
  • Facilitate the instructional modalities needed to meet the desired outcomes of the simulation.
  • Interface with faculty and staff to facilitate optimum functioning of the simulation equipment.
  • Provide a safe learning environment that encourages active learning and reflection and supports repetitive practice.
  • Provide tutoring support to the Nursing Program students in concert with faculty.
  • Foster participant learning by providing appropriate support throughout the simulation activity.
  • Act as a resource person for faculty and students relative to the Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab equipment.
  • Ensure security of the Nursing Lab and the equipment during assigned work hours.
  • Monitor lab supplies inventory in cooperation with faculty.
  • Validate each simulation based on current best practice.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Accurately maintain records and submit reports as required.
  • Maintain and develop work related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional development and cross training opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials, best practices and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, various committees and professional organizations as required.
  • Perform additional grade level duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated use and application of standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques related to nursing best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge related to:
    • a. Abilities and level of the participant
    • b. Expected outcomes for simulation
  • Understanding of standard clinical practices, medications and medical procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and skilled in the use of technology to enhance delivery of work product.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and process for providing excellent customer service, meeting standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and complex student and/or employee issues consistently, confidentially and professionally.
  • Good math, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Read, comprehend and follow instructions/work orders.
  • Ability to respond to unpleasant, angry or discourteous people in a professional manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks concurrently and meet varied deadlines.
  • Respond to unpredictability.
  • Identify problems, investigate root-cause and make recommendations for solutions.

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
  • BSN required with evidence of a plan for obtaining a graduate degree in nursing within a cumulative period of five years in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing requirements.
  • Two years of recent acute care/medical surgical bedside nursing experience and/or skilled nursing required.
  • Prior work experience in nursing education required.
  • Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards in current and prior positions.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Current Pennsylvania or Multi-State Registered Nurse license required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

CLEARANCES:
The successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire:
  • PA Child History clearance
  • PA Criminal Record Check clearance
  • FBI Federal Criminal History Record clearance
