Individuals in these positions are typically trained on the job to perform basic testing tasks, such as executing test cases, identifying bugs, and documenting results. These roles are ideal for recent graduates or career changers who are interested in starting a career in software quality assurance. Employers often look for candidates with strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, and a willingness to learn new tools and techniques.

What can entry-level software testers expect in terms of training and onboarding when starting with no prior experience?

Entry-level software testers with no prior experience typically go through structured onboarding programs that introduce them to testing methodologies, company-specific tools, and workflows. Many organizations provide mentorship opportunities, pairing new testers with experienced team members to guide them through their first projects. You'll likely participate in hands-on training sessions, shadowing, and gradually take on more complex testing assignments as you build confidence. This supportive environment is designed to help you learn quickly, ask questions, and become an effective contributor to the team.
