GEICO is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Testing Tools and Frameworks team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of building and maintaining testing frameworks, libraries and tools, test run times, reporting and analytics, and making testing accessible and intuitive for engineers across Geico.

The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in the internals of test frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, TestNG, and knows how to build and extend test frameworks capabilities and knows the challenges and effective strategies for rolling out common test frameworks across hundreds of engineers.

Position Responsibilities

Partner with business and engineering to understand testing complexity and translate the testing needs to appropriate testing capabilities exposed by tools, frameworks, libraries.

Have a deep technical understanding of test frameworks and when appropriate, develop extensions, plugins, fixtures, and other similar layers to improve the Test Framework capabilities

Prototype new test vectors, approaches, tools, or methods.

Bridge the gaps between teams and their services by building new libraries

Building new tools such as Excel Addons, Data sanitation services, CLIs, and anything else that could be useful to solve a particular challenge.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our continuous delivery processes remain cutting-edge.

Qualifications

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

8+ years of experience in software testing, performance/load testing.

Deep familiarity with test framework internals or advanced topics in Pytest, Playwright, TestNG.

Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Node, Java, Python.

Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.

Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.

(highly desirable) Experience developing large scale performance test rigs for K6.

Education

Bachelor's degree or master's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience


Annual Salary

$105,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
