Job description

Summary of Position:

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for prospecting, developing, and capturing new customers while managing and expanding existing accounts. Sales are diverse, with opportunities across commercial, industrial, oil & gas, mining, and construction sectors. The ideal candidate will develop strong customer relationships, deliver excellent service, and meet sales and profitability goals while promoting the full Midwest Hose product line.


This role will work closely with inside sales and warehouse staff to ensure orders are fulfilled in a timely fashion.

Pay:

Competitive base salary + commissions + company vehicle or vehicle allowance + cell phone allowance


Responsibilities:

  • Sell, service, and promote Midwest Hose product line to external customers in oil & gas, mining, aggregates, construction, and other heavy industrial markets
  • Help brand the Midwest Hose full line of hose, fittings, and fluid transfer solutions
  • Develop business strategies to raise customer pool, expand store traffic, and optimize profitability
  • Identify, pursue, and close opportunities through pre-established and self-sourced leads
  • Maintain strong business relationships and provide on-the-ground support to customers
  • Meet with customers to discuss evolving needs, including those in mining operations and related industries
  • Track and report on sales data to leadership teams

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Familiarity with standard sales and account management practices
  • Strong ability to assess customer needs and propose tailored solutions
  • Critical thinking and reasoning to support customer satisfaction
  • Prior hose and fittings sales experience (highly preferred)
  • Outside sales experience in oil & gas, mining, construction, or other heavy industrial markets considered highly relevant
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office programs
  • Energetic, positive, and self-motivated with strong time management skills
  • Commitment to working additional hours as needed to complete orders

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • 1-3 years of hose and fittings experience (highly preferred)
  • Prior industry or commercial sales experience (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required)
