Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in NYC that is seeking a Remote Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer.
Summary:
The Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 migrations across Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive. This role includes assessing migration readiness, configuring migration tools, performing tenant-to-tenant migrations, troubleshooting issues, and providing post-migration support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive environments for migration readiness
* Plan and execute tenant-to-tenant migrations, including migration waves, cutovers, and rollback strategies
* Perform pre-migration assessments, pilot testing, production migrations, validation, and remediation
* Automate migration and validation activities using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and M365 tools
* Troubleshoot identity, mailbox, permissions, authentication, collaboration, and synchronization issues
* Maintain migration documentation, runbooks, reports, and operational handoff materials
* Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, application, and business teams throughout migration projects
REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and migrations
* Experience with PowerShell, including Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 administration
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph API/Graph PowerShell
* Experience with Microsoft migration capabilities such as Migration Manager, SharePoint Migration Tool, Exchange migration batches, and cross-tenant migration features
* Experience with third-party migration platforms such as Quest, BitTitan MigrationWiz, ShareGate, AvePoint, or equivalent is desirable
* Understanding of Active Directory, Entra Connect, DNS, SMTP, domains, authentication, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and identity lifecycle management
* Strong troubleshooting skills across identity, messaging, collaboration, and content migration workloads
Strong knowledge of:
* Microsoft Entra ID
* Exchange Online/Outlook
* Microsoft Teams
* SharePoint Online
* OneDrive for Business
* Microsoft 365 Groups
Preferred:
* 4-7+ years of Microsoft infrastructure/Microsoft 365 engineering experience
* 2-4+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365 migration experience
* Experience delivering large-scale enterprise or tenant-to-tenant migrations
* Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, tenant consolidations, or Microsoft 365 transformation programs
* Ability to execute migration waves involving hundreds of users
* Experience producing migration runbooks, cutover plans, validation reports, and technical documentation
Preferred Certifications:
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
* Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
* Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
* Relevant Microsoft Azure/Microsoft 365 certifications
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
