Job description

JSW Steel is seeking an experienced Melt Supervisor to join our Melt Shop operations. This role is responsible for leading safe, efficient steel production activities, including scrap handling and processing, electric arc furnace (EAF) operations, ladle metallurgical furnace (LMF) operations, and refractory processes. The Melt Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in ensuring quality steel production while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate personnel and materials to safely and efficiently produce high-quality steel
  • Supervise production employees involved in scrap loading, handling, melting, and steel refining operations
  • Train, coach, and direct employees on melt shop operating procedures and proper equipment use
  • Ensure completion of all required production, safety, and supervisory reports
  • Actively support and enforce all safety policies and procedures within the area of responsibility
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to support equipment reliability and assist in diagnosing operational issues

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory and production experience in electric arc furnace steelmaking and ladle metallurgical furnace operations
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy and steelmaking principles
  • Broad understanding of melt shop operations, including scrap mix composition, carbon and oxygen practices, and alloy calculations for producing various carbon steel grades
  • Experience with scrap quality control, EAF operations, and preventive maintenance of melt shop equipment, including cranes
  • Ability to support troubleshooting of equipment breakdowns and maintenance repairs
