What You'll Do
  • Work to ensure all steel is manufactured to CMC specifications and safely in a timely manner
  • Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, etc)
  • To ensure slag foaming is appropriate
  • Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry
  • Work with personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace, etc.)
  • Communicate with fellow workers and supervisors about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
  • Trouble shoots work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others (pulpit operator, process manager, maintenance personnel, etc)
  • Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
  • Fill in or assist supervisor in the performing of duties when requested and needed
What You'll Need
  • A minimum of 5 years melt shop experience and detailed knowledge of melt shop and casting operations
  • Strong computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read roll and guide drawings as necessary
  • Work which may include weekends and holidays
  • Data entry in SAP / QMOS
  • Ability to work with a budget for lowering cost (SAP)
  • Must be able to schedule work through work orders and/or delegation
  • Ability to work in extreme heat

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
