Cardinal Staffing has a DIRECT HIRE opportunity located in Bellevue, OH for a Furnace Deck Operator.
Position Summary:The Furnace Melt Deck Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining melting furnaces and related equipment used in the recycling of magnesium. This role involves charging furnaces, monitoring melt quality, performing temperature checks, ensuring safety protocols, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the melting process. The operator plays a critical role in producing high-quality recycled magnesium while adhering to all plant safety, quality, and environmental standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Charge furnaces with magnesium scrap, ingots, and alloying materials according to production specifications.
  • Monitor furnace temperatures and melt characteristics to ensure optimal melting conditions.
  • Skim dross and impurities from molten magnesium to ensure cleanliness of the melt.
  • Tap furnaces safely and accurately into molds, holding furnaces, or casting lines.
  • Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and forklifts to transport materials as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on melt deck equipment.
  • Monitor and record process data such as temperatures, times, and weights.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures including the use of PPE and safe handling of molten metal.
  • Communicate with supervisors and quality control personnel to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
  • Participate in ongoing training and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:Required:
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in high-temperature environments.
  • Forklift and/or crane operation certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Work Environment:
  • Heavy industrial setting with exposure to high heat, noise, and airborne particles.
  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime may be required based on production demand.
Compensation of $18.50Working hours: days 5am-5pm This is a 12 hour rotating 3 on 2 off 2 on 3 off schedule
Benefits:Production Incentive -Based on weekly average output - Paid Monthly
Royalty Incentive - based on tenure with the Company
Please note that all new hires must pass a pre-employment drug screen prior to beginning work.
