Job description

We are a leading steel service center seeking a dedicated Slitting Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining slitting production, both on and off the plant floor, including employee relations, attendance, training, and monitoring. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering the right product, to the right customer, on time, every time. We pride ourselves on our commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Track time and attendance for shift employees.
  • Monitor and oversee the production process.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Train and organize employees for optimal productivity.
  • Transfer coils as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining quality standards.
  • Complete and review daily production reports.
  • Report and document any accidents.
  • Work towards eliminating fault rejection and return.
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Exercise authority to stop production if necessary to correct quality or safety problems.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years experience in production at a steel service center.
  • Ability to drive a hi-lo and operate a crane.
  • Basic use of tools: calipers, micrometer, tape measure, etc.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of entire machine set-up and operation.
  • Knowledge of welding.
  • Supervisory skills: professionalism when dealing with employees.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to bend and reach.
  • Required to stand for the duration of an 8-10 hours shift, break times will be provided.
  • Must wear PPE such as, Hard hat or bump caps, steel toe shoes, safety glasses. Some areas or tasks may require additional PPE such as gloves and cut resistant sleeves or other possible items.
