Attorney – Commercial Litigation & Motion Practice

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Litigation Attorney to support a fast-paced commercial litigation practice handling high-volume merchant cash advance (MCA) matters.

This role is heavily focused on motion practice, legal review, litigation support, and day-to-day case oversight. The ideal candidate is practical, organized, communicative, and capable of operating independently in a high-volume environment without requiring constant direction.

The attorney will work closely with paralegals, operations staff, and clients to keep matters moving efficiently while helping improve workflow, templates, and litigation processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of practical litigation experience
  • Strong experience drafting summary judgment motions, oppositions, replies, and related motion practice documents
  • Strong understanding of New York civil procedure (CPLR)
  • Experience reviewing pleadings, discovery, exhibits, and litigation filings
  • Ability to supervise and support paralegals on procedural and litigation-related questions
  • Comfortable handling high-volume caseloads
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and exercise sound judgment
  • Experience in small to mid-sized litigation firms preferred
  • MCA, collections, or commercial litigation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and finalize litigation documents including motions, affirmations, affidavits, memoranda of law, and supporting exhibits
  • Handle high-volume summary judgment motion practice and related court filings
  • Review legal work prepared by paralegals and provide guidance on litigation workflow and procedural issues
  • Assist with litigation strategy, motion analysis, and case progression
  • Communicate with clients regarding case updates, litigation status, and strategic considerations
  • Review court correspondence, deadlines, filings, and procedural requirements
  • Collaborate with internal staff and outsourced teams to ensure matters are moving efficiently
  • Identify process improvements, template updates, and workflow efficiencies within the litigation department
  • Step in as needed to address urgent issues, filing questions, or case-specific challenges throughout the day
