Job description

MATRIX is seeking a nuclear-experienced Sr. Project Manager to lead capital facilities and plant modification projects at a commercial nuclear generating station. This role is responsible for full lifecycle ("cradle-to-grave") management of capital improvement initiatives including equipment replacements, building/facility upgrades, plant modifications, infrastructure improvements, and long-term asset strategy execution.

Projects range from $100K to multi-million-dollar investments and are executed within a highly regulated NRC environment requiring strict adherence to nuclear safety culture, quality assurance standards, procedural compliance, and outage integration requirements.

The Sr. Project Manager will oversee 5-10 concurrent projects and serve as the central integrator between Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Finance, Construction, and external vendors.

Hours: Standard business hours; during outages, expect approximately 60 hours/week (12-hour days, 6-7 days per week)

Hourly pay range: $95-$110

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects as assigned and within theparameters of cost, quality,scheduleandobjectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of projects.
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress ofproject.
  • Prepare reports for upper managementregardingthe status of projects.
  • Provide leadership for project team members and the Project Management process; lead and direct the work of others, with primary duties to customarily and regularly direct the work of two or more other employees, including but not limited to more junior staff in employee's discipline; make substantive recommendations to MATRIX as to the hiring, firing or discipline of employees.
  • Perform primarily office and non-manual work.
  • Perform work related to the management or general business operations of MATRIX or its customers/clients, while exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to MATRIX and its customers/clients.
  • Interface with managers or head of a unit/department requiring the integration of multiple functional organizations.
  • Follow and adhere to Project Management Process and Requirements.
  • Maintain "Stop Work" authority as to the project.
  • Use independent discretion to declare Stop Work if any unsafe situation arises that putspersonnel, the project or equipment in jeopardy.
  • Educate MATRIX and Client on project goals, operations, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines; promote health and safety awareness consciousness, and implements all MATRIX health and safety procedures.
  • Use "lessons learned" to improve quality of MATRIX's future projects; make recommendations to MATRIX as to the implementations of future policies and procedures.

REQUIRED:

  • 5-7 years of project management experience required, with strong preference for candidates with facilities, construction, utility, power plant, or commercial nuclear power experience.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted nuclear access, which includes Federal background investigation, Fitness-for-Duty testing (drug & alcohol), Compliance with NRC Access Authorization requirements.
  • U.S. citizenship (required).

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Commercial nuclear or utility/power plant experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects in large-scale environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with project controls and variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with PMI/PMBOK (Waterfall/Predictive) methodologies.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle Unifier, Workday/UKG, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
