Material Planner
East Side of Indianapolis, IN | Fully Onsite
$60,000 - $65,000 Base Salary
Are you a supply chain professional who thrives on balancing inventory, forecasting demand, and ensuring materials arrive when they are needed? LHH is seeking a highly analytical Material Planner to support purchasing, inventory planning, and supplier management activities within a dynamic distribution environment.
This is a fully onsite contract to hire position.
What You'll Do
  • Create and manage purchase orders within the ERP system
  • Develop demand forecasts and inventory plans based on customer requirements
  • Monitor and track inbound purchase orders and supplier commitments
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels across multiple warehouse locations
  • Manage customer min/max inventory programs
  • Coordinate supplier returns and corrective actions
  • Escalate recurring supplier performance issues and drive resolution
  • Ensure supplier compliance with delivery schedules, shipping documentation, and receiving requirements
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve material shortages, backorders, damaged goods, and delivery delays
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and material issues
  • Maintain accurate planning data within ERP and MRP systems
Additional Responsibilities
  • Analyze inventory and purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities
  • Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory
  • Develop strong supplier relationships and support ongoing performance improvement initiatives
  • Monitor supplier scorecards including on-time delivery, quality, capacity, and responsiveness
  • Assist with sourcing and procurement projects as needed
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and inventory performance
Qualifications
Required
  • 2+ years of experience in material planning, purchasing, procurement, inventory management, demand planning, or supply chain
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree; Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
  • Experience planning raw materials, components, or inventory with extended lead times
  • Experience within distribution, wholesale, logistics, industrial products, or supply chain organizations
  • Understanding of MRP concepts and inventory planning methodologies
  • Experience working with domestic and/or international suppliers
