Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Expeditor / Material Planner supports onsite production operations by ensuring material availability, tracking shortages, and coordinating the movement of parts and hardware throughout the manufacturing process. This role is highly execution-focused and works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, and Quality teams to prevent production disruptions and maintain schedule commitments.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment that relies on both system-based and manual tracking processes. This position requires strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving, and consistent engagement on the shop floor to support production priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Track and expedite materials, components, and hardware to support daily production schedules and manufacturing priorities.
* Identify, communicate, and escalate material shortages, delays, or supply risks that could impact production flow or delivery commitments.
* Coordinate with Manufacturing, Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and MRB teams to resolve material-related issues and maintain workflow continuity.
* Maintain accurate tracking of work-in-process (WIP), shortages, priorities, and material movement using travelers, routers, spreadsheets, and ERP/MRP systems.
* Ensure materials are properly staged, identified, and available to support production schedules and operational demands.
* Provide timely and accurate status updates regarding material availability, constraints, and recovery plans to key stakeholders.
* Assist with inventory reconciliation, part identification, location tracking, and material disposition activities on the shop floor.
* Support the resolution of nonconforming, rejected, or out-of-flow material in partnership with Quality and MRB teams.
* Maintain documentation and records related to material movement, shortages, expediting activities, and production priorities.
* Participate in daily production meetings, tier boards, and operational reviews to communicate material status and support schedule execution.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow, inventory accuracy, production visibility, and planning efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
* Experience in manufacturing, production, logistics, material planning, production control, and supply chain environment.
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
* Comfortable working in manual or non-standardized systems utilizing spreadsheets, travelers, routers, and paper-based tracking systems.
* Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with production, engineering, quality, planning, and supply chain teams.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records, reporting, and status updates.
* Ability to work onsite and remain actively engaged on the shop floor throughout the production process.
* Flexibility to support extended hours or weekend production activities as needed.
* Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior experience in Material Planning, Expediting, Production Control, Scheduling, Manufacturing Coordination, or Inventory Management.
* Familiarity with manufacturing routings, travelers, shop orders, and WIP tracking processes.
* Experience supporting aerospace, automotive, industrial, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
* Exposure to ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar manufacturing systems.
* Experience partnering with Quality and MRB teams to resolve material holds, shortages, or nonconforming product issues.
* Strong Excel and spreadsheet-based tracking, reporting, and organizational skills.
