Our Business Development & Marketing department has an excellent opportunity for a Marketing Manager supporting the Business Practice Group (Business Group). This is an exempt position that reports to the Senior Business Development & Marketing Manager for the Business Group. This position will be a point of contact for business development and marketing activity related to the Business Group, and an integral part of the Business Development & Marketing department as a whole. This role will primarily support the Business Group’s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Private Equity and Capital Markets & Securities/Corporate Governance practice teams, with other duties as assigned.

Our Business Development & Marketing department has an excellent opportunity for a Marketing Manager supporting the Business Practice Group (Business Group). This is an exempt position that reports to the Senior Business Development & Marketing Manager for the Business Group. This position will be a point of contact for business development and marketing activity related to the Business Group, and an integral part of the Business Development & Marketing department as a whole. This role will primarily support the Business Group’s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Private Equity and Capital Markets & Securities/Corporate Governance practice teams, with other duties as assigned. A highly skilled communicator with strong interpersonal skills and an exceptional level of attention to detail are required, as well as strong legal writing and proofreading skills. Must be comfortable multi-tasking, managing tight deadlines without compromising work quality and working in a fast-paced environment for clients who have a wide variety of personalities and work styles. This role requires individualized client service for the attorneys and must be proactive by bringing and implementing ideas that can yield a strategic impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the relevant practice teams’ marketing efforts as outlined, including participating in relevant monthly team meetings and working with Team Leaders to identify and pursue client opportunities and reputation building activities that will make the teams more profitable.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the legal market and the capabilities of the Firm nationwide, applying this knowledge to maximize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of relevant client news and business/industry trends to suggest opportunities and approaches for client expansion or brand building, including newsletters, various events and other engagements.
  • Manage relevant RFP/proposal responses and pitch meeting preparations including the creation of customized materials and sharing of best practices in the BD & Marketing department’s knowledgebase.
  • Plan and execute client events from start to follow up such as webinars, conferences, speaking engagements, sponsorships and other events.
  • Work closely with the Public Relations team to identify and leverage media opportunities, maintain accurate and effective web content, and publish effective and timely client alerts.
  • Prepare Chambers, Legal 500 and other submissions to rankings and directories contributing to established goals and objectives.
  • Manage the production of marketing collateral, brochures, practice profiles, meeting placemats, announcements, invitations, etc.
  • Maintain the Experience Database for significant matters.
  • Support the integration of lateral attorneys.
  • Assist Team Leaders and Senior Business Development & Marketing Manager where needed with group-wide practice development projects and initiatives. 
  • Liaise regularly with the Business Development & Marketing department as a whole, attorneys and team leaders of assigned practice teams.
  • Be able to build consensus and cohesion among attorneys with varied backgrounds and subject matter expertise.
  • Other duties as requested and assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional services marketing. Law firm experience highly desirable. Account management experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills both oral and written. Ability to speak effectively and respond to common inquiries or complaints from all levels of professional and support staff, clients or members of the business community. Interpersonal communication skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients and staff, and to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy and professionalism in these interactions. Demonstrated success strengthening corporate reputations and client relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage major projects, coordinating the use of department resources and involving senior management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Proven aptitude to learn new software applications.
