What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Marketing Manager at a startup, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Marketing Manager at a startup, you need a solid background in digital marketing, data analysis, and brand strategy, usually backed by a marketing degree or relevant experience. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot), and social media management systems is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and strong communication skills help you stand out in this fast-paced, resource-constrained environment. These skills are crucial for driving growth, building brand awareness, and quickly responding to shifting market demands in a startup setting.

What does a Marketing Manager do at a startup?

A Marketing Manager at a startup is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to build brand awareness, attract customers, and drive growth. They often wear many hats, handling tasks like digital marketing, social media management, content creation, event planning, and analyzing market data. Because startups have limited resources, Marketing Managers must be adaptable, creative, and hands-on. They work closely with founders and other teams to align marketing efforts with overall business goals. Their role is crucial for helping the startup gain traction in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges a Marketing Manager faces when working at a startup, and how can they address them?

Marketing Managers at startups often encounter challenges such as limited budgets, rapidly shifting priorities, and the need to wear multiple hats. To address these, it's crucial to prioritize high-impact activities, leverage cost-effective digital marketing tools, and maintain agility to adapt strategies quickly. Building strong cross-functional relationships with product, sales, and engineering teams ensures alignment and accelerates campaign execution. Being resourceful and open to experimentation often leads to innovative solutions in a fast-paced startup environment.

About the Position
OX Security secures the AI-driven SDLC from prompt to production. We eliminate critical, real-time risks from AI code generation through cloud runtime by doing what conventional tools can't: unifying development and cloud context to stop vulnerabilities right at the source.
At OX, we're building the future of cyber security for the AI era. If you're looking to work on disruptive technology with an amazing team, you belong here.
We're growing fast and looking for a Global Field Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team and play a key role in building and scaling our global field marketing strategy, driving impactful programs that generate pipeline and strengthen our market presence.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you'll work closely with Sales, Marketing, external partners, and leadership to plan and execute global initiatives that engage our customers and prospects.
If you're creative, hands-on, data-driven, and excited about building scalable marketing programs in a fast-growing cybersecurity startup, we'd love to meet you.
Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and manage lead capture processes, ensuring accurate tracking, follow-up, and visibility into event-generated pipeline.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on event performance, ROI, lead conversion, and key metrics to continuously improve future initiatives.
  • Bring creative ideas to event experiences and campaigns that strengthen brand awareness and engage target audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, agencies, and external partners to deliver high-quality experiences globally.
  • Help scale field marketing processes, best practices, and programs as OX continues to grow.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in field marketing, event marketing, demand generation, or integrated marketing roles.
  • Proven experience planning and executing global events and marketing programs from strategy to execution.
  • Strong understanding of B2B SaaS marketing, lead generation, pipeline creation, and sales alignment.
  • Experience working closely with Sales teams and managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative mindset with strong attention to detail and a passion for building memorable experiences.
  • Data-driven approach with the ability to analyze results and optimize future programs.
  • Experience in cybersecurity or a fast-growing startup environment - advantage.
