Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of AI. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that OpenAI Job Boarddrive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI's products and platform amongst our core audiences.
We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with product, engineering, developer relations, comms, and sales teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels.
Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.
About the Role
As a Startup Field Marketer, you will execute and scale OpenAI startup field marketing programs, bringing high-impact founder experiences to life across owned events and technical community moments. This role will manage the end-to-end execution of startup-facing initiatives including founder events, workshops, hackathons, ecosystem activations, and flagship moments tied to OpenAI launches and products.
You'll partner closely with startup GTM, product marketing, developer relations, events, and marketing teams to ensure OpenAI consistently shows up with high-signal, technically credible experiences for founders and builders. Sitting at the center of how OpenAI engages the startup ecosystem in the real world, you'll help scale how startups discover, adopt, and build with OpenAI through programs that bring founders and developers closer to our products, community, and teams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys operational ownership, and can independently drive multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining a high bar for execution and attendee experience. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In This Role, You Will:
  • Build and execute startup field marketing programs from planning through onsite delivery and post-event follow-up
  • Support flagship OpenAI startup experiences including Founder Days, Builder Lounges, hackathons, workshops, and ecosystem activations
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align programming, audience strategy, messaging, and follow-through
  • Help scale repeatable event playbooks and operational processes across markets and program types
  • Track program performance, attendee engagement, and operational learnings to continuously improve execution quality
  • Ensure OpenAI's startup presence consistently reflects a high-quality, founder-centric, and technically credible brand experience
You Might Thrive in This Role If You:
  • Have 7+ years of experience executing field marketing, startup ecosystem, community, or experiential programs
  • Have experience running repeatable event series or scaled founder/developer programs across multiple markets
  • Are highly organized and operationally strong, with the ability to manage multiple timelines, stakeholders, vendors, and logistics simultaneously
  • Can independently own projects within a defined scope, proactively identify risks, and drive solutions through ambiguity
  • Are comfortable partnering cross-functionally across GTM, partnerships, PMM, events, and operations teams while communicating clearly with stakeholders
  • Are energized by startups, AI, and developer ecosystems, with strong judgment around founder audience experience and a collaborative, ownership-driven mindset
