Purpose:
Athene is seeking a Senior Manager, Marketing Automation to lead the strategy, execution, and continuous evolution of our marketing technology ecosystem. This leader will drive scalable, data-driven customer engagement across our retirement, insurance, and institutional distribution businesses while serving as the business owner for the implementation and long-term success of Salesforce Data Cloud (Data360). This role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and operational excellence to deliver personalized customer experiences that accelerate business growth.
As a key member of the Marketing organization, you'll partner across Sales, Distribution, IT, Data, and Marketing to modernize customer engagement, leverage AI-enabled marketing capabilities, and build a best-in-class marketing technology foundation. You'll lead a high-performing team while helping shape the future of how Athene connects with customers through innovation, analytics, and automation. Accountabilities:
  • Lead the strategy, implementation, governance, and optimization of Athene's marketing automation ecosystem, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce Data Cloud (Data360), delivering scalable, personalized customer journeys across multiple distribution channels.
  • Serve as the business owner for Salesforce Data Cloud, partnering with Marketing, Sales, IT, and Data teams to define data architecture, identity resolution, audience segmentation, governance, and ongoing platform optimization.
  • Develop innovative, AI-enabled marketing automation programs that improve customer engagement, campaign performance, lead nurturing, lifecycle marketing, and measurable business outcomes through testing, analytics, and continuous optimization.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Marketing Automation and Marketing Operations team by fostering People-Centered Leadership through coaching, talent development, inclusion, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to establish marketing technology strategy, prioritize investments, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure regulatory-compliant activation of customer data within a highly regulated financial services environment.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience; including 3+ years of formal or informal leadership, with demonstrated success leading marketing automation, marketing operations, customer data platforms, or related digital marketing functions.
  • Expertise implementing and optimizing enterprise marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Data Cloud (Data360), Marketo, Pardot, HubSpot, or comparable solutions, including CRM integrations, customer segmentation, personalization, and journey orchestration.
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities, including experience with Salesforce CRM, data architecture, customer identity resolution, campaign analytics, A/B testing, project leadership, and AI-enabled marketing technologies. Experience with AMPscript, SSJS, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Mobile Studio, Advertising Studio, HTML/CSS, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading teams in a regulated industry preferred, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, drive innovation, foster collaboration, and promote a strong risk-aware and compliant culture aligned with People-Centered Leadership principles.
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Data Cloud, or related certifications, along with financial services or insurance experience, are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Systems, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
