In addition to leading the team, this person will play a key role in advancing our broader QA strategy by expanding the use of automation, introducing modern tooling and AI-assisted workflows where they can add real value, and building capabilities that make both engineers and Manual QA more effective. You Will
  • Drive the evolution of automation frameworks, tooling, and workflows to support a more scalable and effective approach to quality
  • Expand meaningful automation coverage and improve the quality of signal in CI/CD
  • Partner cross-functionally to build quality earlier into the development lifecycle
  • Improve build stability and release confidence through better automation, tooling, and process
  • Use data to identify gaps, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen software reliability
  • Evaluate modern QA tooling, including AI-assisted workflows, and pilot practical new approaches
  • Lead, develop, and grow a team of SDETs and QA engineers

Requirements
You Have
  • 8+ years in software engineering, SDET, or quality engineering
  • 2+ years managing engineers, including coaching and performance management
  • Strong hands-on technical background and ability to engage deeply when needed
  • Experience driving the adoption of scalable automation practices
  • Experience building or scaling automation frameworks using tools like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
  • Strong programming skills, ideally in JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD
  • Good judgment in choosing between manual and automated testing approaches
  • Experience in improving tooling or workflows to make Engineering and QA teams more effective
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and QA
  • Curiosity about modern tooling and AI-assisted workflows, with practical judgment about where they add value

What Success Looks Like
  • Greater adoption and impact of automation across QA and Engineering
  • Better tooling and workflows for engineers and Manual QA
  • Improved build stability, release confidence, and software reliability
  • A strong QA Automation team with clear ownership and growth
  • Stronger QA and Engineering partnership with shared accountability for quality
  • Clear progress toward a more scalable, automation-forward quality strategy
