Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer Technician to join our Colorado Manufacturing team supporting a stand-alone manufacturing facility performing work on DoD systems.  The Manufacturing Engineer will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative team in support of our nation’s war fighters. This role will serve as an Engineering Technician for manufacturing activities at CMF supporting a wide variety of manufacturing  Programs. This role will work closely with the engineering team in Colorado Springs, CO and is not a remote position.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Technician you will be overseeing documentation improvements, assist in implementation of process improvements, assist in drawing updates, updating MBOM’s and be the first line of defense on the manufacturing floor ensuring efficiency and quality. This position will require frequent coordination with Planning & Production Control, Quality Engineers, Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers within our Colorado Springs site.

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Support the manufacturing floor by monitoring manufacturing process and address challenges and collaborate with manufacturing engineering on complex challenges.
  • Assess the quality of products and identify flaws in the manufacturing process.
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in the design and implementation of production processes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in modification of production documentation.
  • Use of MES software (Solumina) to implement, track, monitor, and control manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Generation and maintenance of Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOMS).
  • Generate routings inside Solumina to account for accurate run times.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production teams to identify and execute on continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to Identify and reduce risks in the production processes.
  • Resolve problems related to production jobs such as configuration changes, engineering changes, material issues, schedule priority, etc.
  • Support ISO9001/AS9100 processes within the department.

Basic Qualifications    

  • High School Diploma with minimum 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with machining.
  • Critical thinking experience.
  • Experience with CNC 5-Axis Lathes and Mill’s..
  • Experience with Manufacturing, Assembly & Integration experience with machining, and/or mechanical components.
  • Experience with utilizing MRP and experience with ERP/PLM/MES systems.
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 processes.
  • Intermediate proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs, CO area.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with manufacturing, assembly, integration, procedure development & implementation.
  • Experience with composite machining.
  • Intermediate understanding of GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience with machining, mechanical and/or structural assembly processes and equipment including some of these: mechanical assembly, composite machining, etc.
  • Experience with contactless structured blue light scanning
  • Experience developing and maintaining PFMEA’s.
  • Experience with Deltek, Costpoint ERP & MRP, Solumina and Windchill.
  • Knowledge with AS6500 manufacturing management program.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Candidate must possess a final Secret security Clearance.
  • Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
