We are presently seeking a Multi-Functional Engineering Manager that be responsible for the recruitment, development, and retention of the individual team members.
Main responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage the workload of the Engineering team. Hold regular one on one sessions with team members, delegate responsibilities, and ensure priority focus is aligned with strategic objectives. Communicate progress and status of initiatives to others outside the group.
  • Set project priorities with a focus on identifying and improving equipment and processes such as yield, cycle time, on-time delivery, and cost. Contribute to the strategic planning process and align Engineering group priorities, projects, and daily activities to achieving those goals.
  • Lead continuous yield improvement efforts by identifying opportunities and coordinating improvement teams to deliver results.
  • Continually collaborate with peers, production managers and other leaders to achieve our objectives and foster continuous improvement and a culture of accountability.
  • Drive deeper understanding and strategic improvement of Excelitas' process technology. Help increase the depth of individual team members' process knowledge and breadth of team member's knowledge of what others are working on.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to our systems and support activities that produce results. Lead cross-functional teams when appropriate.
  • Ensure Engineering team works closely with manufacturing and facilities maintenance team to sustain and improve performance of processes and equipment, and to ensure effective troubleshooting of processes, equipment, and quality performance breakdowns. Drive documentation of existing and new process procedures, training of operations on proper process execution and troubleshooting response.
  • Develop strong alignment of Engineering team with R&D team and transfer new and improved processes into manufacturing. Collaborate with R&D team with a goal of continual information sharing. Ensure that the Fabrication Engineering team is supporting the ECO and NPI processes with speed and thoroughness to achieve excellence in new product introduction.
  • Collaborate with peers across thin film and fabrication to ensure root causes as appropriately identified, actioned, and mitigated.
  • Ensure fast turnaround of technical review and costing of products in the quotation process.
  • Identify and create opportunities for individual technical and professional growth of Engineers.
  • Follow and support the company's Environment, Health and Safety culture by being aware of and reporting any concerns as well as carrying out work in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS in Engineering, Physics, or other equivalent technical field required.
  • MS in Engineering, Physics, Business, Engineering Management, or applicable field preferred.
  • 8+ years of industry experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Six sigma green or black belt a plus
  • Demonstrated leader with a track record of building and leading strong technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with and influence members of cross-functional teams coupled with the ability to collaborate with others in a team environment.
  • Six sigma and lean manufacturing knowledge with a history of driving improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and pertinent specification related to coated precision optics and provide detailed technical feedback regarding appropriate coating designs, technical feasibility, and manufacturability.
  • Excellent quantitative skills including ability to analyze complex data and apply quality tools to highlight opportunities and track improvement.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, statistical tools, ERP, and databases such as product lifecycle management tools and custom SQL applications.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, peers, and the general public.
  • Optical metrology and assembly experience
