Job description

Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.



The Practice Operations Manager- Medical Respite will develop processes and maintain oversight of the daily operations of the AHCH clinical teams related to Medical Respite. This position will have oversight of an interdisciplinary team at the Medical Respite clinic including Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses. A portion of this position's time may also be utilized on outreach to the community. The Practice Operations Manager serves as a consultant and collaborates with other cross-disciplinary staff on issues relating to medical and mental health needs of patients. This position will work primarily at the Medical Respite location, separate from the main AHCH campus, with cross-training and occasional coverage at the main AHCH clinic campus.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of Medical Respite program and associated walk-in clinic
  • Provide triage and client intake services
  • Work with other disciplines toward integrative approaches to patient care
  • Oversite and maintenance of onsite lab services.
  • Work closely with Billing Manager to ensure smooth, efficient coordination of front and back-office operations.
  • Provide coaching and professional development for Nursing and Medical Assistant team
  • Provide medical care to those experiencing homelessness.
  • Serve as a cross-department clinical resource for AHCH staff.
  • Collaborate with other staff in treatment planning.
  • Participate in peer review process.
  • Maintain standards of medical care according to established protocols.
  • Follow provider treatment plans and monitor medications for AHCH clients.
  • Work closely with other primary care, psychiatric, and behavioral health providers on client health issues.
  • Participate in planning, case review, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure timely documentation of services in EHR in compliance with AHCH standards.
  • Must comply with all AHCH policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting
  • Strong desire to work in an integrated/cross-disciplinary team model
  • Experience documenting services in an EHR
  • 1 year of experience in clinical office operations
  • 2 years in a leadership role in a clinical setting
  • 2 years previous clinical leadership experience with a Master's degree in relevant field i.e. health administration, public health or equivalent combination of degree and experience OR Licensed RN through New Mexico Board of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years providing family or primary care in a medical/clinical setting
  • 2 years of experience in clinical office operations
  • 3 years in a leadership role in a clinical setting
  • Previous experience with outreach/street medicine
  • Clinical experience with underserved populations, those with SMI/CMI, and substance abuse disorder
  • Previous experience working in a FQHC
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
