Job description

Position Summary The Learning Management System (LMS) Course Specialist is responsible for the development, administration, management, and sustainment of Learning Management System capabilities in support of Army Distributed Learning programs. This position supports both unclassified and classified training environments and ensures LMS content, functionality, and user engagement meet Army standards and operational requirements. The LMS Course Specialist plays a critical role in developing and maintaining online training sites, administering course environments, managing digital content, and supporting community engagement within the LMS platform.

This position requires a Secret Security Clearance, Security+, and Computing Environment Certification Key Responsibilities: LMS Development & Course Management: Develop, configure, and sustain online courses within the LMS. Administer course settings, enrollments, permissions, and user roles. Design and maintain structured online training environments.

Support development and sustainment of classified training sites. LMS Administration & Content Management: Manage and organize LMS content, modules, and learning materials. Maintain course updates and ensure content relevance and accuracy.

Administer user groups and community engagement tools. Provide LMS technical support to instructors and users. Army Distributed Learning Support: Support Army Distributed Learning Systems and associated training platforms.

Ensure LMS configuration aligns with Army training standards and policies. Integrate LMS functionality with Army systems as required (e.g., ATRRS where applicable). Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of experience developing courses within an LMS Two (2) or more years of experience administering courses in an LMS Two (2) or more years of experience managing LMS community engagement tools Two (2) or more years of experience managing LMS content Two (2) or more years of experience developing and sustaining online training sites Experience supporting Army Distributed Learning Systems Technical Skills: Blackboard LMS (Army Distributed Learning platform) LMS course development and instructional structuring User and group management Online training site configuration and sustainment Digital content organization and lifecycle management LMS administration and workflow management Familiarity with Army training system integrations (e.g., ATRRS) Core Competencies: Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to manage multiple courses and deadlines simultaneously Attention to detail and accuracy in content management Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently in secure and structured environments Customer service orientation when supporting instructors and learners Working Environment: Secure government facilities Support for classified and unclassified training systems May require coordination with Army training stakeholders and system administrators
