About the Role

The Lab Operations Engineer supports hardware development, validation, and lab operations across silicon, systems, networking, and infrastructure programs. This individual will work closely with engineering, lab operations, system integration, and IT teams to deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and scale development lab environments.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on hardware expertise with scripting, automation, networking, and datacenter operations experience. This role is heavily focused on system integration, hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, inventory management, and lab sustainment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot servers, racks, networking equipment, and lab infrastructure
  • Support hardware bring-up, system integration, testing, and validation activities
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, firmware, networking, and system issues
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools
  • Automate repetitive tasks and improve lab operational efficiency
  • Support datacenter and lab operations, including hardware installation, cable management, inventory management, and equipment maintenance
  • Assist with network configuration, connectivity troubleshooting, and infrastructure support
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to resolve technical issues and support project objectives
  • Maintain lab safety, security, and compliance standards

MUST HAVES

  • 5+ years of experience supporting hardware development labs, datacenters, manufacturing labs, or validation environments
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, rack integration, system bring-up, deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with serial communications, UARTs, console access, and low-level system debugging
  • Scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including switches, VLANs, subnets, routing, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience supporting silicon development or platform validation programs
  • Linux administration experience
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, or similar lab tools
  • Experience supporting large-scale cloud, AI, server, or datacenter hardware environments
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems, automation frameworks, or lab operations tooling
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Redmond, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
