Manager Implementation Science Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Reports To: Director of Tobacco Control Health Initiatives

Location/Office: New York, NY (CAI has a hybrid work schedule of working 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.) 

General Statement of Responsibilities 

The Senior Program Manager works under the direction of the Director of Tobacco Control Health Initiatives to manage day-to-day implementation of CAI's tobacco control health initiatives, with a primary focus on the SAMHSA-funded National Center of Excellence for Tobacco-Free Recovery (CoE-TFR). The role supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of technical assistance (TA) that builds the capacity of state department of health teams to work across departments, with provider networks, and people with lived experience to strengthen behavioral health and recovery systems to ensure access to evidence-based tobacco use treatment (TUT) as part of routine care.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

• Manage day-to-day implementation of CoE-TFR activities, translating project goals and priorities into implementation plans, timelines, and deliverables.
• Manage core components of the Tobacco-Free Recovery Learning Community, including: state engagement, completion of key assessment activities, convening state-specific Leadership Academies, development of state-specific action plans, and implementation support.
• Serve as primary point of contact for assigned state teams, maintaining regular communication, coordination and delivery of individualized pro-active and on-demand TA (virtual and in-person) to support progress toward development and implementation of state-specific action plans.
• Apply implementation science and quality improvement approaches to assess progress and adapt strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with state and national partners, consultants, and stakeholders
• Support meaningful engagement of people with lived and living experience, peers, and families in project activities and systems-change efforts.
• Collaborate with evaluation staff to implement evaluation activities and use data and feedback to continuously improve TA and capacity-building strategies.
• Collaborate with communications staff to promote national dissemination of project resources, webinar trainings, and project findings.
• Collaborate with curriculum staff to support the development of learning session designs and resources, and e-learning and video-based learning tools.
• Develop and monitor project workplans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables; proactively flag implementation challenges and areas needing additional support.
• Plan, facilitate, and document internal and external meetings; contribute to reports, presentations, briefs, and success stories, documenting outcomes and lessons learned.
• Maintain and document all activities in project management database ensuring quality and completeness of all data and to use for project monitoring and improvement.
• Support the Director in preparing for funder meetings, national partner engagement, and other strategic activities; represent CAI at state and national meetings and conferences as appropriate.
• Support budget monitoring, consultant/partner coordination, and reporting requirements; contribute to broader portfolio growth, including partnership and proposal development.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project and organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health, social work, healthcare administration, health policy, behavioral health, or related field, and/or 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing public health, behavioral health, healthcare, tobacco control, TA, or health systems improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of behavioral health and recovery systems and the policy, workforce, and service-delivery factors that drive systems change.
• Familiarity with tobacco/nicotine use and evidence-based tobacco use treatment, including integration into healthcare, behavioral health, and recovery settings.
• Applied experience designing and delivering technical assistance, capacity building, coaching, or training, and facilitating multidisciplinary or stakeholder groups.
• Strong project management skills across multiple partners, workstreams, and deliverables; excellent facilitation, presentation, and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and know when to escalate issues to leadership.
• Knowledge of implementation science, quality improvement, or performance management approaches, and staff supervision experience, preferred.
• Experience working with state/local government agencies, healthcare or behavioral health systems, or community-based and recovery organizations, preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual TA/collaboration platforms.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15–20% annually, nationally and within New York State, for Leadership Academies, TA, and meetings.

While performing the Senior Program Manager’s responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. This position requires the employee to be on-site at a CAI office. The employee is often required to sit and work at a desk for prolonged periods of time and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $97,000, depending on experience. CAI offers the following benefits:
