Job description

Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant

Location: Mount Kisco, NY (10549)

Employment Type: Full-Time, 3540 hours/week (35 hours/week guaranteed); W2

Schedule: M-F, 12pm-8pm with flexibility earlier or later as needed

Start Date: August 1, 2026

Compensation: $35$40/hour, based on experience

About Our Family:

We are a busy, close-knit family of four, looking for a House Manager & Family Assistant to help bring order and organization to our home. We value a warm, collaborative, and respectful environment, and we're seeking someone who shares these values and can help us maintain an organized, well-functioning household.

Our household runs on dynamic schedules, so we need someone who is an excellent organizer and can create and maintain systems that keep everything running smoothly. This includes organizing household systems, managing errands, and handling meal prep a few times a week. We want someone to partner with us to get things done and have a no task is too big or small attitude. You'll be an essential partner in ensuring that everything from laundry to home organization to childcare is handled seamlessly, with both parents and the House Manager working together to maintain a balanced and happy home.

Key Responsibilities:

Household Management & Organization:

  • Create and maintain household organization systems
  • Perform daily resets and prepare the home for weekly cleaning service
  • Daily tidying: load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas, make beds etc
  • Manage seasonal swaps (clothing, dcor, bedding)
  • Organize and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Prepare for events, holidays, and guest visits
  • Handle unpacking and organizing after travel
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and maintain smoke detectors
  • Oversee pool/backyard area to ensure tidiness and cleanliness

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies as needed
  • Maintain and manage running household supply lists
  • Oversee household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping
  • Manage mail and package deliveries, including sorting and organizing
  • Take out garbage and breakdown/dispose of boxes

Family Support and Child Assistance

  • Occasional help with pick-ups/drop-offs from school and extracurricular activities
  • Provide supervision and backup childcare, ensuring children's safety and creating a positive environment with engaging, age-appropriate activities
  • Help with school related readiness; prep backpacks/clothing/snacks

Meal Planning & Prep

  • Prep healthy snacks and protein-forward meals 3-4x/week for family
  • Prep school lunches 5x/week
  • Shop for groceries and meal-related items
  • Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, fold, and organize family laundry
  • Ironing and steaming, and special garment care
  • Rotate and refresh towels
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies

Pet Care

  • Feed dogs 2x/day and walk 2x/week
  • Assist with vet and grooming scheduling, including drop off and pick up
  • Maintain pet supplies

Deep Cleaning and Special Projects

  • Occasional deep clean of fridge, oven, baseboards
  • Daily refresh of common areas; e.g. mudroom, entry, and garage

Vehicle Management

  • Fueling, cleaning, and organizing vehicles, including a weekly clean-out

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Awareness of family calendar, events, and schedules
  • Assist with occasional family event and appointment coordination
